PACT Coalition serves the Clark Regional Health Policy Board Region

Mission

The PACT Coalition seeks to empower Southern Nevada with the resources to prevent substance misuse for all ages and promote recovery through culturally competent advocacy, education, stigma reduction, support, and outreach. A diverse cross-section of community leadership is represented by the PACT Coalition that will work together to ensure a sustainable future and a healthier community.

Our Vision

The PACT Coalition envisions a community in which every layer of society is involved in the prevention of harm and the advocacy of education.

History

The PACT Coalition for Safe & Drug-Free Communities, a 501(c)3, was formed in 2010 when a group of Las Vegas community members identified the need for a coalition in Southern Nevada to address substance misuse.

Role in Community

PACT Coalition works to address substance misuse through the Strategic Prevention Framework community-based process and works in collaboration with its members and partners to address policy, system and environmental change. PACT works to reduce substance misuse across the lifespan by increasing protective factors and reducing risk factors associated with substance misuse.

PACT Coalition works to strengthen community by acting as a neutral convening table and bringing together key stakeholders and decision-makers to address emergent issues and bring about systemic change.

As a community agency, PACT provides education and outreach opportunities for the betterment of Clark County. As a subject matter expert in substance misuse prevention, PACT Coalition seeks to engage community partners in furthering education and understanding in order to increase community buy-in for the importance of prevention.

PACT also acts as a pass-through agency for large state and federal grants, administering sub-awards to local agencies to provide direct, evidence-based prevention programming. By partnering and providing support to agencies who may not have a primary focus in substance misuse prevention, PACT is able to leverage the captured audiences and increase prevention capacity across the county. Please see our Sub-Grant portion of the website to see current and former sub-grantees of PACT Coalition.

Comprehensive Community Prevention Plan

The Comprehensive Community Prevention Plan acts as a roadmap, establishing a data-driven process and establishes priorities to allow for strategic and cost-effective strategies. PACT advocates for proven models and frameworks to guide the work. Through evaluation, PACT can stay informed about what works in our community and continue to support these efforts. PACT participates in a variety of local, regional, and statewide groups to bring additional support to prevention. It is through capacity building efforts that prevention can move forward and be sustained.
